Anchor & Shotcrete works at St Angelas College Cork

What started out as a straight forward underpinning job, ended up by abandoning the original sceintifically designed underpinning process in midstream. Unsuspected variations in ground characteristics being the primary cause.

The objective was to cut an 8M shear / vertical wall immediately in front of a very large two storey convent.

Sub-base materials encountered included soft clays, very loose shale and dense rock, where each individually presented its own challenge. The solution was concluded at an on-site meeting and was entirely based / reliant on TAL’s experience / expertise in this area of construction.
A combination of shallow vertical pressure grouted solid bars, some permeation grouting, lateral anchors and layers of shot-crete was used, with complete effect.
